Scale Scenes dot com produce interesting paper model kits for model railroaders or any railroad scale modelers.     They usually have at least one free download on their site. The downloads look to like good templates to scratch build from as well.

I haven't downloaded any myself, but appears to be printable on whatever the builder can feed through their printer. Modelers build the structure with foam and cardstock or foam core or similar materials. Then apply the printed images onto these base structures.
Probably a lot of build work involved, but far cheaper than buying pre-fab plastic structures. And I'm sure it looks better at smaller scales such as N and 00.

I downloaded the free project, "Small Goods Store _ R002" with instructions.
Looks simple. It will use your ink supply in your printer.

yeah. the only thing i plan on spending any serious dough on is my structures. and rolling stock. I will scratchbuild a couple though. i got a slick method for creating roads (costs about 10 bucks) see here: www.telusplanet.net/public/crowley/ashphalt_roads.htmi got the ground cover in the smash already. trees pretty much all the scenery is being done from household items and nuts that cost a couple of bucks... i looked at a few of those printable structures when i first got into it. although yours look great, i dont think im that skilled yet. plus i dont think i want to use my printer for that. |

ink is not cheap and it will drink it up. I just wanted to throw the link out there for anyone looking for something like that.
The foam road looks simple and straight forward.

no thats perfect to post here, thanks. I saw that before on youtube. whats really ironic is i think me and my wife (girlfriend at the time) used to eat at that doughnut shop. its on Parkside Ave near prospect park in Brooklyn. They used to make these homemade glazed doughnuts that were out of this world - now i think i want a doughnut. Man, i cant wait until i can start of my layout...
