wow, your layout is really coming together. The weathering paint looks great. I primed and base coated that BNSF reefer and progress will continue into the 799565 I was asking about.

thanks Ko. been kind slacking on the layout. i got that warehouse that im trying to build from scratch in the background there. but when i decided to expand i figured i better wait to see just where everything is going to go. gotta get my civil engineering on... i also have some refurbishing and weathering to do to those buildings i hooked up with. pretty focused on the weathering right now. ill come back to the layout in a while.

i put a coat of lighter gray on the second one last night. dont think im going to weather that one at all. just leave it plain.

What type of paint do you use? brushes etc. ?

for the splotches i used oils, stippling method. for the streaks a very thin brush and a steady hand. i tried something different in the background tried to get thinned brown (rust colored) paint to run down the car naturally. several variations of this process. the hardest part was getting the reporting marks on straight and centered in the buff box. i still think its kind of crooked. ill have to come up with some sort of guide next time.

What decal set did you use for this? BTW, it looks straight from here I need some of those "built date" black box decals for some of my cars
