well after much dileberation, i decided about a month ago to disassamble my 4X8 layout. it just was not big enough. i have regrouped and am in the very early stages of planning a full size walk around layout. with a 22X23 space to work in quite a few options. but unlike before, im taking it really slow and will plan everything down to the finest detail. in the meantime though ill be doing a lot of custom car weathering. in my finished layout, the yards and lay-ups will always be full and full length trains will run. here are some photos of the current state of affairs: the old 4X8 turned weathering workshop A CSX MOW project im planning. no rush on this one. I need a random GP38-2 and I may have one that does not work so well. this is like a year long project and all i have done so far is take the cars apart. three of my most recent weathering projects. i think im getting the hang of this an old horn hook gondola which is my next small project. im searching for a prototype since i have never seen a yellow ITC gondola in real life. a layout i kind of inhereted. its a long story - long story short, its a good looking layout but its all brass track and DC wired. im not sure what to do with it except salvage the structures. i cant bring myself to throwing it out - not yet. plenty of practice shells...practice practice practice...
